Word templates in Power Automate revolutionize your document creation. They automatically merge dynamic data with pre-designed layouts, eliminating manual formatting and ensuring every document is consistently on brand.
This solution not only boosts productivity but also reduces errors, letting you focus on strategic tasks that drive business forward.

1. Enable Developer tab in Word
First, we need to create a Word template. For that, we must enable the Developer tab in Word.
You can easily enable it in Word's settings.

2. Add dynamic content in Word
Then we need to add some Dynamic content into Word.
On the Developer tab → Controls section, you'll find the 'Aa' button. By clicking this button, you add Dynamic content to the Word canvas. You can modify the Properties in the Controls tab.
In this case I added 3 dynamic content items: FirstName, LastName, DateOfBirth.
All of these items will appear in Power Automate flow action later on.

Now we need to upload our Word template to SharePoint so that we can call a Power Automate flow to fill the template.

4. Power Automate Flow
The trick lies in the Populate a Microsoft Word template action, where you can see all the dynamic content items from Word.
You can easily map them and create a file from that.

Word templates in Power Automate transform document creation by merging dynamic data with pre-set layouts, eliminating manual formatting and errors while boosting efficiency.
